DLF Promenade Celebrates World Environment Day

Joins hands with InAwe.com along with reputed NGOs to spread awareness on sustainability

New Delhi, 5th June 2015: DLF Promenade in association with InAwe.com and 10 other reputed NGO’s from around the city organized a host of activities on 5th June at the mall to celebrate The World Environment Day. The mall which is also upfront and robust in its social responsibilities towards the immediate neighborhood gathered various NGOs with several years of work experience in green initiatives and sustainability. The daylong event commenced at 10 am in the morning and was attended by Naresh Yadav, MLA (AAP) from the Mehrauli Constituency

DLF Promenade is known for being a one stop destination for fashion, fun and entertainment. However, the mall is not only known for everything fun and frolic. When it comes to taking care of the immediate environment, it leaves no stone unturned. The NGOs and the activities for the day included Paharpur Business Centre which talked about Indoor Air Quality through various demonstrations, live plants, leaflets, Air Purifiers demonstrating the maintenance and benefits of the keeping indoor plants. Trash to Cash working towards making products out of waste (recycling/reuse) displayed bags, wallets, sling bags and various other products handmade of cassettes, newspapers, mobile covers, jute and even e-waste. Further, Lifelite LED Lights demonstrated the benefits of using LED lights which saves around two-third of the power utilized by normal bulbs, DailyDump showed how to convert your kitchen waste into compost products; Tijara Organic Farms introduced Organic Vegetables which are healthy as well as has enhanced shelf life, c.green which tries to review the grandma recipes with a modern touch showcased products made out of millets without preservatives and chemicals, 4SMilk featured organic milk without pasteurization derived from cows which feed on organic food. Adding to it, Teri Press focused on literature, books on Sustainability & energy, ma botanicals showcased bodycare products made out of natural products without chemicals and Desi Origins displayed products made of Bamboo or natural materials. Furthermore, Hind Bhartiyam Foundation in association with Kavi - The Poetry-Art Project supplied plantlets for the visitors. These plantlets are nurtured and grown by the inmates of the Tihar Jail.

The initiative has also been hailed by Naresh Yadav, MLA (AAP) Mehrauli Constituency. He personally visited DLF Promenade around 3:15 pm to see all the activities. Speaking on the occasion, he said, “I was really excited to hear about the various activities organized by DLF Promenade and In Awe and on the World Environment Day. I do hope more people take inspiration from such endeavors and go the green way”.

Over the years, DLF Promenade has incorporated various facilities to achieve the mission to be environment friendly. The mall’s Facilities Management Team has been working closely with internationally acclaimed Facility Manager Cushman & Wakefield in successfully incorporating numerous comprehensive, multi-faceted energy and sustainability management programs resulting in significant reductions in energy, waste disposal and water usage. The initiatives involves Sewage Treatment plant with a capacity of 400KLD, waterless urinals to save unwanted wastage of water, Solar panels with a capacity of 45KW supply power, a whooping 2500 and more LED lighting tubes to ignite the basement car parking, a Green belt of approx 500 ficus trees around the vicinity of the mall and solid waste manager which is used to make manure.
