On popular demand, Stellar Children's Museum in association with Aakaar Puppet Theatre is holding another workshop on puppetry at the Museum on July 13th, 2013.

Puppets are a great way to involve children in creative play because they have to build characters, take on roles and act out scenarios. Making Puppets with children is one of the easiest and most fun ways of stimulating creativity. This workshop will help your kids get started with puppets right away, with materials you probably already have around the house. Kids will learn to make their own puppets. They will be encouraged to dramatize a story on stage using these puppets.

Aakaar Puppet Theatre was established in 1988 by Puran Bhat, of Kathputli colony, Shadipur, New Delhi. The group has performed in a number of schools, at Literacy Mission, Ministry of Environment and at Pragati Maidan. They use traditional rod, string and shadow puppets. Aakaar has also presented programs for National School of Drama and on television. The company is dedicated to the conservation of traditional kathputli puppetry and development of new forms of puppetry in Indian and international cultural contexts. They have worked under Dadi Pudumjee and have collaborated with French, German, Mexican puppet and dance groups. Puran Bhat is also the recipient of the 2003 Sangeet Natak Academy award for puppetry.
