On the eve of the event being cancelled, Ashutosh Pandey, COO of Landmark said that, ‘Landmark is disappointed for not being able to host Sir Salman Rushdie and Deepa Mehta at our Landmark store in Vasant Kunj, Delhi on 24th January, 2013. We regret cancellation of the event due to unavoidable circumstances. However, we wish the movie all the best and share our deepest regrets for the inconvenience caused.’

‘Salman Rushdie & Deepa Mehta Tour’ • Date: 24th January, 2012 • Venue: Landmark, Vasant Kunj, Ambience Mall, Delhi • Time: 7.00pm Delhi, 22nd January, 2013: Landmark and PVR Pictures are honoured to host Salman Rushdie & Deepa Mehta’s Tour; to promote Midnight’s Children an epic film by Deepa Mehta based on the Booker Prize-winning novel by Salman Rushdie at Vasant Kunj, Delhi, on 24th January, 2013, at 7.00pm.
At the stroke of midnight on August 15, 1947, as India declares independence from Great Britain, two newborn babies are switched by a nurse in a Bombay hospital. Saleem Sinai, the illegitimate son of a poor woman, and Shiva, the offspring of a wealthy couple, are fated to live the destiny meant for each other. Their lives become mysteriously intertwined and are inextricably linked to India’s whirlwind journey of triumphs and disasters.

About Deepa Mehta -
Deepa Mehta is a filmmaker who has been described as a “transnational artist”. Her movies are known for telling universally meaningful stories and have played at every major film festival; receiving awards and recognition, and have been distributed around the world. Deepa was born in India and received a degree in philosophy from the University of New Delhi. Before immigrating to Canada, she began her career making documentaries in India.
