Events in Delhi - North East Breeze & Pratigya - Jiyaara Launch on 8 August 2013 at Hard Rock Cafe, DLF Place, Saket. 10.pm
North East breeze is the latest musical force to be reckoned within Assam. Music is their religion — they preach music, they dream music. Created in 2008, it is the first Folk-Rock band of Assam. In that year a group of seven friends with an idea to build a folk-rock band mainly based on the folk of Asssam and North East India created NEB. Every member of the band is a powerhouse of ingenuity.
The uniqueness of the band lies in Rupam’s mesmerizing voice and Tridip’s powerful vocal. Priyanku’s magical fingers create sensation once they are on the guitar. The ambience astounds with Rishav on the bass guitar and Anowar on the keyboard. The wave of verve crafted by the drummer Biraj and percussionist Bidyut makes
the band complete.
3 albums, numerous shows and concerts all over India, they have composed countless tunes while experimenting widely with different genres and carrying on and exploring the endless frontiers of their musicianship.
With the sole objective to compose original music with the blend of folk music of Assam. The result is a potpourri of sounds deeply rooted in the soil that touches the heart and speaks the common language of humankind.
The band “Pratigya” insists creating an individualistic genre of Indi Pop/Rock in breaking music.
Born out of diverse western pop/rock and Hindustani Classical influences, to give birth to a serious cutting-edge band, Blending deeply meditative ragas with rock and jazz.
Pratigya encompasses hybrid styles of exquisite melodies and everlasting pop/rock instrumentation, hence carving out a special sound and considering there music as a labor of love as well as a message of hope to all.
Nishant Sharma - currently pursuing a degree in English from DU, when not engrossed in Shakespeare and Wordsworth, will most probably be found unwinding at Cafe Morrison or Turquoise Cottage, humming along to his favorite tunes. Having been supported by his family through myriad 'eccentric' demands, he has formally trained in Indian Classical under the aegis of the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, and likes to consider himself a boiling pot of inspiration. Also, he hates acknowledging it, but he's quite the ladies man.
Gautam Jaswal - having made the fatal mistake of falling in love with Eric Clapton at the tender age of six, he truly lost his mind upon being gifted a Gibson Acoustic. More sleepless nights than he claims, and more numb fingers than he cares to remember, he had found a calling. Keeping in vein of his creative inclination, he is currently pursuing a Bachelor's in Fine Arts, and while he loves the paint brush, it's his guitar he turns to, at the end of a hectic day.
Akshay Upadhayei - the stereotype 'creative Bong', known to his friends as 'Dada', is the multi-instrumental nerve center of the band. Having had formal musical training from The School of Rock, Trinity College London, (Grade 6, no less), Abhijeet not just plays about every instrument made by man, he also understands and respects the technicality that goes into making music. While the others might skip a chord, Abhijeet would probably throw a fit over the difference between a flat G and a G#.
Iqbal Hussain- born to musically inclined parents,Iqbal draws inspiration from the likes of Pearl Jam and Ac/DC. Formally trained in playing Guitar from The Delhi School of Music, his allegiance however lies with his 5 string Ibanez. Having received formal music training, he has a carefully structured and composed style of playing, a trait that reflects in his performances, both on record and live.
Param Khanna - the lead drummer for Pratigya, he is also the funnyman of the group. Caught in the grips of Heavy Metal at a young age, he cites Lamb of God, SlipKnot, Metallica, Megadeth & Trivium as inspiration. When not trying to perfect his style of playing, he is usually found playing pranks on the rest of the group
